Hydroxyurea 100mg Capsules

 Commonly used for:

• Sickle Cell Anemia: to reduce the frequency of pain crises

• Certain cancers: such as chronic myeloid leukemia (CML) or head and neck cancers

• Polycythemia vera and other blood disorders

 How it works:

• Slows the production of abnormal blood cells

• Increases fetal hemoglobin (HbF), which helps in sickle cell disease

Dosage Form:

• Usually available in capsules (100 mg, 250 mg, 500 mg)

• Dosing is based on body weight and blood counts

• Requires regular blood monitoring (CBC)

Warnings and Monitoring:

• Can lower white blood cells and platelets

• Not safe in pregnancy

• Long-term use needs medical supervision
